Work of Groups
In 1980 E.J. Gold published Volume 5 of his Secret Talks series. The series contained a number of volumes that later became public works. These volumes included Practical Work on Self, The Human Biological Machine as a Transformational Apparatus and the Hidden Work, among others. A number of the volumes were not made public for various reasons. Volume V was one such volume.
As we read through the work, we peek into the workings of the inner groups E.J. had been working with at the time. There are a series of moments captured by his senior students. These motifs capture a group in action working together. The volume is not a study of how a spiritual group works together. Rather it is an observation of individuals working together with their teacher in various situations.
This series of the Wednesday night classes will now take a different form. Each Wednesday evening at 7:00pm Pacific time a number of us gather. But, the gathering is unusual, most of the attendees are not in the room. We meet virtually. Most of the attendees are in different time zones. There are people on the East Coast, there are individuals from other counties.
Each week there has been a small grain of sand deposited onto a structure called a group. There was no specific moment when the group arose, there was no discernible event that formed the group, there was no secret phrase uttered giving rise to something called a group.
But nevertheless, a group has formed.
We will take up the challenge of the Title of this VolumeĀ – Work of Groups. We will develop a series of events to help us discern the characteristics that constitute “a group.” We have a lot of work ahead of us.
