The Sacrifice of Suffering and Despair – Life of Awakening
We have now passed through many sacrifices. We have glimpsed behind the veil of our insistence and indulgence in ordinary life. We can see that from time to time, we can exercise moments of freedom.
At this level in our work, we are in the practice mode of our work. There is no need to constantly ask, Well, what is the path? We know a few things. We are asked then to put that brief and budding knowledge to work. Practice is what is before us.
In this Sacrifice, E.J.Gold is asking us to “intentionally develop mental powers, or siddis, over the material universe. Okay, we can’t do that ALL the time. But, here is the “rub” – we now know, that we are able to do it sometimes.
The idea and concept of a living consciousness has snuck into our lives. We are not able to fall fall fall back asleep. We are the holders of a small candle. That light is what we can offer forward. We are now responsible for this small flame. Do not hide that flame under a bushel. But, we are now charged with carrying it forward.
“One learns how to replace unconscious habits with habits leading automatically and perpetually to conscious life.” [page 239]
Now seems to be the moment to start.
