The Sacrifice of Sanity – Life of Essence

We have now come to a turning point in our work with this book. The sacrifices thus far, have led us to a moment of decision.

We have worked through 8 sacrifices. The purpose of those exercises was to give us enough data and knowledge to make a decision. That decision is based upon the sacrifice suggested in this chapter.

In one sense, we have made enough progress to begin to “See” the Work ahead of us. As we actually leave the world of the Machine, we are at the beginning steps into the Corridor of Madness. The Sacrifice opens as follows(Page 206):

“Now one goes through the door of the Corridor of Madness.”

It is suggested that one stand only upon one’s essence for moving during this sacrifice. You will see that the essence is truly simple. There are no complex concerns and hidden motives. One lives life in a direct manner. As one proceeds in this manner and develops the new habits of living, one is necessarily leaving behind your other life.

Test the waters of living in the essential self. Taste the mood. Is this the life you wish to live? Thus, we enter a moment when one must decide, is it safe to continue? It may be the last time when it is safe to leave the life of the Work Community.
