Activating the Astral Body

If the organic biological machine and its moving centrum manifestations can be made passive, higher substances can be driven upward by the resulting negative force, and the Astral Body can be automatically activated.

In chapter 9, Activating the Astral Body, we begin to wade into the deep end.

The chapter is actually quite elegant. It provides us with a map for the development of our own individually grown, Astral Body, or Essential Self. The Essential Self begins to become an Astral Body when there is beginning of permanence of that Essential self. A body is a separate and distinct entity. The Astral Body is that body that is formed from Higher Substance. Let’s see how we get there.

Part of this discussion is in part a discussion that we have had before, but, we are all further up the spiral. It is a discussion that arose out of our studies with the book, The Human Biological Machine as a Transformational Human Being, also by E.J. Gold. The machine in its native state is passive. By which I mean, it is primarily reactive within its sphere of existence.

When we place our attention on that machine, the reactivity is less possible. The machine begins to awaken. When the machine is awake, then, we are able to activate or begin seeing the Essential Self. At this point we have a chance to begin the development of the Astral Body.

How to deepen our work in this process? Here is where the book slips into elegance. The most “easily” seen part of the sleeping machine is the physical centrum. We can see the muscular tensions abound. So, as a point of observation, note when such an UN-necessary muscle tension comes forth. That is a point of observation. Note that moment. Catch it again the next time.

There is much more to develop here. The same mechanicality works with the mental centrum and with the emotional centrum as well. We do have our favorite emotions. We do have our favorite mental trains of thoughts.

CHAPTER NINE – ACTIVATING THE ASTRAL BODY

What? My astral body isn’t active? After all the work I have done!!!! Well, let’s see what E.J. says about this in Chapter in 9.

We have learned in each of the previous books we have studied that a human being is comprised of at least two separate, independent, autonomous, diverse, co-equal and diametrically opposite “being-parts”, namely, a human biological organic body dominated by a maleficent and recalcitrant – or perhaps simply ignorant – historical personality and a non-phenomenal essential self which can become the center-of-gravity of personal Presence capable of serving the Work and performing an activity referred to in The Hidden Work as Prayer Absolute. We exist as two separate and distinct electrical bodies.

In Chapter Nine we learn that from the moment of our conception until the moment of our last breathe we serve as a “downward gravity pump” which draws materials from the higher realms downward towards and through our biological machine.  We spend the whole of our life simply “excreting” this material in the form of unconscious and involuntary living thereby “flushing” these higher materials down a proverbial “toilet”.  This is called “feeding the Moon” and is akin to experiencing life as a continual stream of “diarrhea”. We are locked in a continual stream of sleep.

For those who become aware of this “hideous situation” Chapter Nine provides some guidelines by which we might reverse the flow of this “downward gravity pump”, namely, by passifying the biological machine together with all of the negative manifestations produced by a reactive historical personality.

When we are unconsciously and involuntarily caught up in the activities of daily ordinary life we become victims of this “downward pumping action”. However, by exercising our will and keeping our HBM awake we are able to reverse the action of the pump.  By directing our attention towards our Essential Self we are able to use the daily drama to successfully reverse the action of the pump for the benefit of our higher being part, namely, our Astral Body.

In so doing we will find that the “pump” will seemingly automatically and mechanically begin to transform the “excrement” of the negativity of ordinary life and produce other substances which feed, grow and activate the non-phenomenal essential self – referred to as the “Astral Body” in Chapter Nine – and enable us to gradually experience a seemingly new life at a higher level of evolutionary existence.
