Bringing the Woman to Life
If we follow the machine as lover would, unrelentingly fixing his gaze upon his Beloved, filled with astonishment, rapture and gratitude, the machine will come to life, awakening and responding to the power of adoration with a profound emotion which will in turn bring about our own transformation.
In chapter 14, EJ Gold speaks about the interaction between the machine and the essential self as being a “mutually reciprocal initiation.” In chapter 15 we put emphasis on the process once more. However, we understand that our necessity to awaken the machine and to transform the essential self is urgent.
The power of the attention of the essential self is weak and undeveloped. Only by a continual process of placing the attention on the machine is this attention enhanced. But, we have other tools at hand. If we follow the machine as a lover would follow the beloved, if we become interested in the machine (interested in our own machine), we will notice it. That interest will become a caring for the machine and its plight. That caring will develop into a love of the machine and we will invoke theĀ profound tool of adoration.
We each have such a tool within us. We have felt it, we understand its power and passion. We wait for the moment to express our passion. Now before us we discover the Beloved, the machine awaiting the power of adoration, then, it turns its force back upon the essential self, and the dance of the Beloved proceeds.
