The Sacrifice of Existence – Ordinary Life
In the last sacrifice we gave up our external stance of following the outer guru. We sacrifice that relationship to stand in our inner Guru. That type of phrase is overused. We actually think we know what that means. But, generally it means, for most people, as way of enhancing the more successful parts of your ego. As it is said, “Give yourself permission to be who you are really meant to be.” Yuck.
If we actually consider that phrase, we are required to find out who we are before we have the audacity to “Give our Selves” such a permission. This Work, is not about our interface with the outer world through ego. We will learn to stand in a new place of inquiry called the essential self. When standing on that ground, we see a new vista. We do not look to see how to enhance our Self, but rather, we consider strategies of Service.
Re-wind now – head back to Sacrifice 01 – the Sacrifice of Comfort. Re-read that chapter from the place where we stand now. In this sacrifice we are advised by E.J. Gold that we may now give service outside the community of work.
What will this mean for us?
