Chapters 41 – 49

Chapter 41

Responsibility

Holding your Duty

“Once we have heard these ideas we are responsible to some degree; we are expected to work, because we brought ourselves to these ideas. Bringing ourselves to these ideas is an act of responsibility in itself.”

There really is a weighing of the soul as indicated in the Egyptian Book of the Dead. The weighing has to do with an examination of our last hour of life. (See Chapter 24 – Practical Work on Self – The Last Hour of Life)

It makes sense. These last moments on the planet will certainly be a test. It will demonstrate the culmination of what we have learned. It is one thing to speculate in theory, it will be another thing to stand on the Stage and deliver your own Eulogy.

You are on that stage alone. The audience is hushed – and you begin your monologue. (I’m getting a little nervous writing this down.)

How do we then fulfill this duty of responsibility? Do we look to others? No such luck happy campers.

The concept calls for a bit of discussion.

Chapter 44

Skyhook Exercise

Setting Lofty Goals

“The Present is the Father of the Future.”

– E.J. Gold     (Work of Groups – page 100)

This evening we will be reviewing pages 103 – 108 in Secret Talks Volume #5. We will touch on some of the topics discussed in those pages, including.

*   Becoming a wolf among wolves

*   What does it mean to live with Quality?

*   We will perform the Skyhook Exercise.

Okay, the Skyhook exercise is simple to say very hard to perform.

“Make an aim bigger than yourself. That is our “skyhook”. A skyhook is not real but it functions as real. (page 108)

Each of attending the class this evening – in person or online will be asked to set a Skyhook. (If you need a little guidance see Chapter 11 in Practical Work on Self) You may have already set a Skyhook – this moment is an opportunity to declare that aim. It is  a notice to the universe. It is a notice to the machine – this is a form of confession in it highest form.

Chapters 45 – 49

Tomb Guardians

Tomb Guardians (Tang Dynasty)

The overall purpose of the Tomb Guardians remains unclear. But, for the most part, in Ancient Egypt and Ancient China – the guardians were there to help the body travel to the afterlife. They protected the tomb from intrusion as the deceased prepared for its voyage.

In Ancient Japan, the guardians were placed around the grave in a circle facing the grave. They were there to prevent the spirit of the grave from leaving. (p. 111)

“False man is in prison without walls; he keeps himself imprisoned although he could leave at any time. This gateless gate is of his own involuntary making. His tomb guardians peer at him from mirrors facing inward.”  (p.111)

From the album “Metropolis”

Cage of Freedom – Jon Anderson (1984)

Cage of freedom
That’s our prison
Where the jailer and captive combined
Cage of freedom
Cast in power
All the trappings of our own design
Blind ambition
Steals our reason
We’re soon behind those invisible bars
On the inside
Looking outside
To make it safer we double the guard
Cage of freedom
There’s no escaping
We fabricated a world of our own…

Cage of freedom, growing smaller
‘Til every wall now touches the skin
Cage of freedom, filled with treason
Changing sides as the losses begin
Our suspicion tries escaping
But they step up the security
There’s no exit–there’s no entrance
Remember how we swallowed the key?
Cage of freedom, that’s our prison
We fabricated this world on our own…

Big brother
Is there a bigger one watching you
Or is there one smaller
Who I should be watching too
Infinite circles of
Snakes eating their own tails
For every one chasing
Another is on the trail
Is that a friend
Can you tell, is he on your side?
‘Cause I spy with my little eye
Yet another spy…
