Harmonizing the Group
“The harmonizing or balance factor of a group is the group aim…”
(E.J. Gold – The Lost Works, Chapter 9 – #6)
There are many approaches to working in a Group. There has been one basic approach over the last few years. We have studied the books together. We have employed a method I call “Slow Reading.” This method means we read the same pages together and all do the common exercises at the same time. We want each person in the Group to follow along at the same pace. We move slowly.
Here is a list of those volumes – All are works by E.J. Gold:
The Human Biological Machine as a Transformational Apparatus
The Hidden Work
Life in the Labyrinth
The Joy of Sacrifice
Practical Work on Self
The ABD
The ABD Guidebook
The Invocation of Presence
Each work takes about a year of study within the Group. As time has unfolded a number of attendees have remarked about the Groupness of the gatherings. There are individual workers from all over the world participating by no other means than to “log in” to a computer screen and participate in the work together.
Ah – there’s the rub. Participate Together.
What are the elements that create that Groupness? In this set of meetings we are working to delineate those elements. We have uncovered one or two so far – we are just getting started.
For this Week #4 – our job was to read the “next” 20 pages of the book [pages 11-31] – Work of Groups – and select one of the exercises – do that exercise and return to the group with your result. You will act as if an investigative reporter – what did you notice, bring your field notes back to the Group.
Oh, right – here are “some” of the exercises noted thus far:
- (p.12) Anything can be learned in one week… Select something to learn.
- (p.14) On Mediums – are you a medium? Can you notice a medium in the space?
- (p.15) Two-legged cows also have barriers – Name some barriers.
- (p.17) “Self-esteem means an impartial measure of one’s value, ones work.” Name one or more elements of value you have.
- (p.19) On Asking Questions – Ask a question of the Group?
- (p.21) The ‘Dead” Exercise – practice dropping the facial mask, practice FOG.
- (p.23) Banishing – What are the elements of Banishing? What do you notice?
- (p.27) The “Fifth through tenth years should be for mastery of feeding solar entities. Then follows a period of one year at the least, 18 months at the most, in which one forms a group of individuals of similar attainment”… How would you know this has occurred? How would you go about forming such a group?

We will now turn our attention the art of Weaving
By weaving I am not talking about industrial weaving – that type of weaving creates the systems and society mechanically operating around us. Industrial weaving leads to the society we see around us – it leads to the lowest in individuals – it leads to sleep.
We want the other kind – you know – the kind that leads to individual freedom through Group Work. This form of weaving is called Hand Weaving. Hand Weaving means you will use your hands. Yes, your hands will touch the materials. Each person may use a different material. But, their own hands are at play. Nothing will get created without the hand being involved. It has something to do with Warp and Weft.
After the individual weavers get proficient enough to produce a simple chevron weave or a soumak effect you will be able to produce a product of beauty.
After that, it might be important that a grand outcome is required – it might take more than one Weaver – they will each need to be well trained. But, then other things are possible.
We will focus on the Art of Asking a Question – “On Mediums” and well I guess – weaving. It has something to do with Warp and Weft.
